Chris Brokaw first came to wider attention as the drummer in the band CODEINE, who were leaders in the slowcore and post-rock movements and big influences on bands such as Low and Red House Painters. After the dissolution of Codeine, Brokaw went to play guitar in Come, a band which has been seen as one of the most important bands of the '90s American indie scene. Brokaw has also accompanied G. G. Allen, Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Evan Dando of The Lemonheads.

Geoff Farina was the bandleader of KARATE, whose six albums fused indie rock and jazz to critical acclaim, and one half of the duo The Secret Stars, who were influences on Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard amongst others. He currently fronts Glorytellers, who have released music in the vein of Karate to plaudits from various publications.
