Event Information
We’re very excited to be rehearsing some wonderful music - some of it rarely performed – but to be including a most famous Romantic Concerto in the programme!
Cherubini bridged the Classical and Romantic periods and this is very evident in his music – Haydn and Mozart-like strains mix with soaring themes in his Requiem, much more akin to the music of great Romantics like Brahms who features for the rest of the evening. Brahms’ Violin Concerto is well known and rightly so! We’re thrilled to welcome back violin soloist Ayşen Ulucan to perform this masterwork for us. She also leads the orchestra through Brahms’ dramatic songs – of the Fates and of Destiny – both of which demand great things of the choir in their dynamic range.
