We are delighted to announce that 2013 Edward W Said London Lecture will be given by Noam Chomsky-

"Violence & Dignity: Reflections on the Middle East
On: 18th March 2013 at 7pm
Venue: Friends House, 173 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ

Literary critic, writer, activist, and spokesperson for the Palestinian cause, Edward Said (1943-2003) was one of the most influential intellectuals of his time. The lecture series aims to promote, his sprit through the continued examination of the links between culture and politics in the Middle East and across the world.

The title 'The Edward W Said London Lecture' (rather than 'memorial' lecture) is also designed to emphasise the forward looking nature of Said's work. With previous lectures by Marina Warner, Rashid Khalidi and Ahdaf Soueif, and forthcoming lectures by Naomi Klein and Daniel Barenboim, the series confirms his profile beyond academia and makes a major contribution to intellectual life in the UK.
