Dynamic, fresh and quite brilliantly played, Tyde draw on influences from every corner of the British Isles and beyond in their music, delivering modern, punchy, danceable tunes, carefully arranged songs and intricate, emotional slow sets.
Finalists in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, Tyde captured the hearts of the live and broadcast audience with mesmerising performances and infectious personalities. Touted by Mike Harding as “The best young band I’ve heard in years”, it’s the mixture of raw energy, prodigious musical ability and clever, fresh arrangements that make Tyde something different. They play blazing tunes on fiddle, accordion and driving rhythmic guitar, big vamping bass and a unity of playing rarely seen on the live music scene. Their “...slick musicianship coupled with a warm and lively stage show...” has brought them “rightful comparisons with Lau”. (Songlines)
Tyde are Heather Gessey on fiddle and vocals, Seth Tinsley on guitar and vocals and BBC Radio Scotland’s Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2011 finalist Andrew Waite on accordion.
With their highly anticipated second album ‘The Hidden Spoon’ due for release in February, Tyde are set to blaze through 2013 with more groundbreaking music and stunning live sets.
