BEST ACT OF THE YEAR ~ 2012
SOUTH WEST MUSIC AWARDS
Mad Dog McRea blend a unique mixture of high octane fueled Irish folk rock, pop, gypsy jazz, bluegrass and 'shake your ass' music. From self-penned songs of adventure, drinking, love and life, to traditional songs of gypsies, fairies, legless pirates and black flies - Mad Dog never fail to capture their audience with their infectious songs.
The band have recently returned from their first major UK tour spreading the Mad Dog word across the country from The Isle of Sky to Lands End! Their recent acclaimed album "The Whirling Dervish", as championed by Mike Harding on Radio 2 has become an underground classic winning the best album of the year 2012 at The South West Music Awards.

JD & The Longfellows
JD and the Longfellows formed in 2006 in SE London. They have released three self-penned albums - Confessions (2006), Happy Hour Again! (2008) and Swinging for England (2011). Their songs are a bucketful of harmonies, all driven by the drop dead inspirational violin of Gemma, gorgeous perfect vocals of Clare, and the lyrical mastery and bellowing of Josh.
They are one of those bands that will have you out on the dance floor, tapping your feet, singing along to choruses you have never heard before.
The band have played well over 200 gigs, toured the UK a few times and played clubs such as What's Cookin', Stranger than Paradise, 12 Bar Club, Gypsy Hotel, Green Note Cafe. They have also been one of the warm-up bands at London Irish Rugby Club playing at the Madejski Stadium at the St. Patrick's Day festival match, and have recorded live tracks at the BBC's Broadcasting House.
