From Otley, West Yorkshire, civil servant David Thomas Broughton - an oddball among 'alternative folk' / singer-songwritery... frail, sad songs: wistful acoustic guitar loops, lyrics: (arse, balls, unmarked graves, taxis, bakeries, the fullness of uncertainty), vocals: John Martyn / Antony & The Jonsons / Nick Drake / olde weirde Englande. Live shows: chaotic, often-ramshackle (noise, toys, guitar, voice, antics and song)... memorable, baffling, hilarious, heartbreaking, joyous mess-abouts. "Arguably the most staggering live musician in the country" - MOJO Magazine.

His last gig in the area was Sunday 15th June 2008 at the Cannon, Newport Pagnell alongside the face/glass noise artist Justice Yeldham. A cheekily-edited recording of his set, complete with top-flight audience participation - can be heard here:

Replacing the now-cancelled House Of John Player: the similarly-loopy (pun intended) MRS PILGRIMM, the humble Northampton-based "cellist and Mum" whose hushed, skeletal songs - played with cello and pedals - form her own unique style of outsidery, kitchen-sink English blues. She has released two albums and previously collaborated with or played alongside the likes of Lou Barlow of Sebadoh (as the 4 Tenors), and sung on a track by Michael Rother (of NEU! and formerly Kraftwerk). Promising "something totally new" for this show; some fantastic new material has recently surfaced on her Soundcloud page:

Also appearing will be Wolverton's own exponent of one-man stomp STANZILLA whose Bob Log III / Link Wray / Made For Chickens By Robots-style bloozy country rock'n'roll has for the last few years been enlivening the local clatter of fests, bandjams and open-mics. A one-man-jukebox of primal rock'n'roll, his songs call to mind the messy electric guitar-fire of the Fat Possum oldguards or maybe a one-man Cramps.

Opening up is JAUSMĖ ELENE STONKUTĖ a singer-songwriter originally from Vilnius, Lithuania now resident in Milton Keynes. She's been singing since she was about 6, has befriended jazz, folk, acoustic, rock and electronic music. She sings both in English and Lithuanian and by her own admission "is ready to go out there and share her melodies with the world". She has no recordings as yet, but once she does they will undoubtedly go up at:
