Spizz is back in black and red and his fire still burns just as bright as it did 30 years ago...no, brighter....with classics like 'Soldier Soldier' and 'Where's Captain Kirk' (the first ever indie charts number 1 folks!) still very much in the set and rumours of swish new numbers composed with his rocknrollingly astute new improved Spizz Energi this has to be a proper post punk n roll treat. A proper entertainer is our Mr Spizz, proper....and what a thing Spizz and I Ludicrous have never performed on the same bill before! What a thing...
I Ludicrous are the kings of that sardonic post punk indie schnizzle (Half Man Half what?) I Ludicrous have over the years been championed by Peel, Time Out and even Mark E Smith who liked them so much he got them on as Fall supports not once but twice. Preposterous Tales still sound sweet to me, now then, now then..oops... plus!..
The supercool perky French female duo The Buns, what a fabulous sound they do make...think B52s/Cramps/Brix era Fall via kitsch twangabilly with a neo rap delivery...the riffs are garage gold, so a bit 5678s like too...mixed with a French Salt N Peppa! This all works rather well, liking it a lot. Elsewhere gets a bit Ting Tings meet Yeah Yeah Yeahs...and the words are well saucy. More griity grils with guitars what with The Feathers opening up for us tonite..
More griity girls with guitars what with The Feathers opening up for us tonite.. Three piece all girl outfit playing sort of space glam with a hint of punk in the rubbery bass lines and the full on feisty choruses and general spunky fizz. A little like a 21K all female Sweet really. Wowsers. Hang on ...beepity beep..news just in, one of them's very much a geezer, the wunnerful Mr Dazzle...haha.
