Legendary Nigerian drummer/percussionist Yomi Bashiru brings his Naija Grooves to London for their first show in 6 years. Yomi Bashiru’s precise drumming has been used to great effect by the likes of King Wasiu Ayinde, Kollington Ayinla, Queen Salawa Abeni and The Yoruba Women Choir. A key player in taking Fuji music from its local interest into international concert filling music.
Yomi Bashiru and the 7-piece Naija Grooves create infectious groves from the fusion of Fuji, Juju and Afrobeat rhythms. Their music is driven by the rich eloquence of the talking drums. The music glides and slides from heavy funk of Afrobeat to folkloric rhythms of Fuji. Expect heavy duty rhythms from one of Africa’s greatest drummers.
