Opera Theatre Company makes its first visit to Strule Arts Centre with the enchanting one-act singspiel Bastien & Bastienne.
Written in 1768, when Mozart was only 12, this dramatic love story is one of Mozart's earliest operas. Although very young, Mozart already had excellent vocal writing skills and a talent for parody and whimsy that still delights the modern day audience.
Bastien & Bastienne are young lovers who are destined to be together - but does the path of true love ever run smoothly? Sung in English with piano accompaniment and directed by Annilese Miskimmon, Bastien & Bastienne stars Opera Theatre Comany's Young Associate Artists' and this charming 50-minute piece is the perfect introduction to opera.
