A night of music performances, focusing on the piano, with two improvised duo performances and a solo performance of piano pieces by composer Arnold Schoenberg.

About the musicians:
Steve Beresford – Multi instrumentalist and composer, Steve has played a wide range of music and written music for film and television. He is probably best known for free improvisation, but has also been involved with a number of pop music groups. Moving to London in 1974, he played in Derek Bailey’s Company events and in the groups Alterations with David Toop, Terry Day and Peter Cusack, and the Three Pullovers with Nigel Coombes and Roger Smith. Beresford has continued to play free improvisation with a number of prominent musicians, including Evan Parker, Lol Coxhill, John Zorn and Han Bennink. He has also worked with a number of popular musicians, including The Slits, Frank Chickens,Ted Milton and The Flying Lizards. For nearly 30 years Steve has also been a prime mover in the London Musicians Collective.
Sharon Gal – A cross-disciplinary artist, performer and musician, Sharon Gal has developed a range of vocal expressions and techniques through years of musical exploration, free improvisation and performances. She has been working solo and in collaborations with others and has been performing in a diversity of live situations which emphasize being in the moment and presenting real time composition.
Tania Chen - Tania has worked internationally as a performer of contemporary piano music, playing the music of american composers Cage, Earle Brown and Morton Feldman. She has premiered piano works of UK composers such as Michael Parsons and Andrew Poppy and younger composers such as John Lely. She is also interested in free improvisation and using improvisation as a way to create notated music.
Pule Pheto – Johannesburg born and a London-based pianist, Pule has worked with bassist Barry Guy and drummer Louis Moholo-Moholo. He also works as a music producer for soul singers.
Steve Noble - Studied with Nigeria master drummer Elkan Ogunde and in the early 1980s was a member of Rip Rig and Panic, touring extensively throughout Europe and England. Since then he has worked in a variety of musical contexts but has been extensively involved in improvised music through work with a wide range of musicians. Including: Derek Bailey’s company, Alex Ward, John Edwards, Lol Coxhill, Tristan Honsinger and Alan Wilkinson.
