Event information

This is an extraordinarily rare chance to see four of the very best folk-roots-rock bands from both the UK and Ukraine.

Legendary Ukrainian band VOPLI VIDOPLIASSOVA have spearheaded a whole new music scene in Ukraine including their frontman Oleh Skrypka's own festivals. They are Ukraine's oldest rock group of any note and today one of its most popular - one that mixes the unusual with the comic and the traditional. One journalist simply called them "a musical psychiatric ward".

THE UKRAINIANS, originally from Leeds, were first discovered by John Peel after the Wedding Present's much loved Ukrainian sessions.
They continue to mix up their winning concoction of Western punk-pop and traditional Ukrainian sounds, a blend that's always best served live.

MANDRY from Kiev mix traditional folk music with rock, pop, blues, reggae and a generous helping of Ska, creating a sound unique to them. Their songs are full of imagery and have emotionally charged melodic patterns, captivating listeners imagination.

CARPATHIANA from Manchester via Kiev add their original blend of music in a Folk’n’Bass style. The leader of Carpathiana, Yuri Baluk, combines his performances within a band with solo DJ sets in the style of house, techno and drum 'n' bass on the club stage in Great Britain and Ukraine.
