Event information

See www.electroacousticclub.com for more information.

The notorious and enigmatic Sweet Baboo is the alter-ego of Cardiff-based Stephen Black, whose dark and sometimes viciously humorous songs are rooted in the finest traditions of Welsh psych-pop but also drawing on country and folk. SB's debut on Black's own Businessman Records also features Cate Le Bon. He has toured with Daniel Johnston both as support and as part of his band.

"... cult solo artist Sweet Baboo a.k.a Stephen Black, has been quietly building a reputation with his darkly comical brand of bittersweet, acoustic alt country. It has drawn admiring glances from everyone from Mark Riley and Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6) to Daniel Johnston who asked him to back him up on the Cardiff leg of his European tour." [godisinthetvzine.co.uk]

"... billed as singing about girls, drinking, sleeping and killing people... he's a bit like Jeffrey Lewis crossed with John Cooper Clarke... Genius!" [soundsxp.com]
