Woog Riots (Italy/Germany)

In the fast rotating indie-subworld inhabited by the German-Italian Woog Riots, it’s just a quick short-cut from riotpop / garagefolk to twee-rave and dance-punk! The band began their pop career in 2004 by compiling a tribute album for iconic Manchester band “The Fall“, which featured eclectic European and transatlantic contributions highly appreciated by John Peel.

I saw this band a couple of years ago at a weird venue in East London. They stole my heart with their quirky pop. They sound like an indiepop antifolk pop punk band. They're brilliant live. Not to be missed. Their song 'King of Pop' is sure to get an outing - recorded long before he popped his clogs. Rest in Peace, Michael.

Ste McCabe (Manchester)

Blending punk rock riffs, pop melodies, dated beats and working class lefty queerness into things often called songs.

Ste is not a fan of narrow-minded right-wing bullshit, modern gay culture, any organised religion and his hatred of the Daily Mail is bordering on obsession. He hopes all this makes you smile. His 2nd album, Murder Music, is out on Cherryade Records in October and is designed to upset every nasty, disgusting, homophobic bigot in the land.

Ste played a blinding set at this years Indietracks festival in the Church! (see pic). For those not lucky enough to be there - come along and see Ste kick against the pricks at The Wilmington Arms.

Horowitz (Stoke)

From Stoke, with love. It's fuzzy duo Horowitz. With pop songs. And a happy happy heart.

They've amassed a wealth of releases over the past few years on what seems like every indiepop label ever - including Kitchen, Glo-fi, Cloudberry, FLA, Thee SPC, Edition 59 and This Almighty Pop. They're the pop band that every label seems to love. We love them too. Popkids of the world unite.

There could be possibly one more band to add. Running order and all that goodness to be decided nearer the time.
