Every year as Christmas approaches, three of the finest folk performers in the country travel around with their magical Christmas tree, which is full of songs and tunes – this is the chance to write their set list! Pete Morton is a songwriter and entertainer with a wealth of great songs and an immense stage presence. He sings from the heart with an unruly mix of humour, politics, love and social comment. Maggie Boyle visited Shammick Acoustic last year as a member of the trio Grace Notes. She’s a singer and flute player of music both old and new, continuing the tradition of music and storytelling passed on by her Irish family, and has worked with many luminaries of the music world, including The Chieftains, Incantation, Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, as well as providing voice and flute for a folk ballet performed by the Rambert Dance Company. Chris Parkinson is simply one of the most sought-after accordionists in the country, having played with Martin Carthy & Norma Waterson, Ralph McTell, Billy Connolly, Mike Harding, Martin Simpson, John Kirkpatrick and… and… and… This is fun, spontaneous night for everyone – especially the performers who quite literally don’t know what they’re going to do next… but you can have no doubt that they do it so well!
