Playing with exploration, freshness, precision and the banter of very good friends, Ewan Johnston's trio present a program of original music and improvisation paired with the captivating reactive visuals of Laurie O’Dowd. Being inspired by artists such as ENEMY, Jason Moran, David Virelles, Max Cooper and BlankFor.ms the long term collaborators are fusing the jazz tradition with contemporary sounds and approaches creating an exciting and dynamic audiovisual performance.
This marks the debut of combining the visuals with the trio set - Johnston and O’Dowd work together as ‘Making Nature’, an ambient immersive audiovisual outfit - and they are bringing parts of that world into the trio setting. Interactive visuals, improvised textures and original compositions will create the world for this show.
Laura Osa is singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist whose music blends jazz with gospel, Afro-influenced rhythms, and contemporary R&B. Rooted in a strong lyrical voice, her songwriting is shaped by lived experience, culture, and her faith. Her sound is defined by emotional storytelling, ethereal vocals, and a modern approach that bridges jazz with soul-based music, creating a soulful and distinctive listening experience.
