The Lancashire Sinfonietta offers a programme that will put a spring in your step,
directed by the virtuoso violinist Bradley Creswick.
One of Elgar’s most adored pieces, the Serenade for Strings, stirs up plenty of
nostalgia, as does the poignant Adagio by Samuel Barber.
Slap-bang in the middle is an audacious offering by Finnish composer, Eero Hämeenniemi. His Chamber Concerto is a brilliant showcase for the improvisatory talents of the violinist director and creates a lively and entertaining centrepiece for the concert. Dvorak’s wonderfully romantic Serenade provides the storming finalé to this celebration of strings.
