Small But Perfectly Formed and LUX present the UK premiere of two performances fuelled by an equal interest in improvisation, film, video and music.

MetalkinG:
Richarles Bronson - electric bass + toys
Riojim - 16mm films + projector manipulations
+
Paul Abbott - video
Seymour Wright - saxophone
Ross Lambert - guitars

Bronson improvises fast and loud noise music. Riojim work methods are as crudely effective as those of Bronson: he apply severe treatment to the projector, play around with the film and the homemade optical sound-on-film.
Riojim has a long history of collaborations with musicians and filmmakers (Jerome Noetinger, ErikM, Metamkine, Greg Pope...). His work is about found footage processing, a very intricate lab work which he sets alive in manic performances which shatter the lame connotation of audio-visual collaborations.
Both from France and touring the UK that'll be their only performance in London.

Riojim will lead a 2-day workshop in no.w.here on flat printing, hand processing & creative projection. More info here: www.no-w-here.org.uk.

Paul Abbott is a LUX Associate Artist. "His videos are fascinating conundrums of language, image and sound, disquieting disjunctive structures whose covert syntax refuses to be unpicked." Courtisane festival, Belgium.
Paul also attends Eddie Prévost's improvisation workshop where he met Seymour and Ross who you can hardly miss on the London improv scene. For a decade, beyond reshaping our perception of their instruments, they have been questioning what we call music in its tradition and performance status.
