Chortle Award-Winning Comedian

NATHAN CATON
‘Caton is probably the most exciting young black comic on the scene.’
Fest

‘More than material, presentation is Caton’s strongest suit and he’s confident, charismatic and upbeat.’
Chortle

‘He specialises in laidback, on-the-nose material, chopping down fools of all colours, both in day-to-day life and in the media’
Guardian

Nathan Caton has been active on the UK comedy circuit since the tender age of 19. He excels in combining both personal, confessional material with up-to-date social and political anecdotes. This has won him numerous credits and plaudits over the years and has made him one of the hottest rising young stars on the circuit.

He started comedy while studying architecture at University and within his first full year of gigging he had built up a solid reputation having performed at the Edinburgh Festival, finishing as a runner-up in the Amused Moose Comedy Search and winning the award for Chortle Student Comic of the Year.

Caton’s first Edinburgh show in 2009 entitled Can’t Tell Me Nothin’ got him rave reviews from critics including The Guardian, EdFest and Three Weeks and earned him guest writing spots with BBC Radio. A year later he took his second show to the festival Breakfast At Stephanie’s. Nathan now continues to gig around the country and is also working on his own BBC Radio 4 series based on his successful debut Edinburgh show.

Awards:
FHM Stand Up Hero Finalist
Broadcast Hotshot
Chortle Student Comic of the Year
Amused Moose Runner-Up
Black Comedy Awards Best Newcomer Nominee

&
BOBBY CARROLL: Low Voltage

Misanthrope stand-up Bobby Carroll's debut hour; like Curb Your Enthusiasm but without the production values. After five years of playing the bearpits and shitholes of the UK circuit, the downbeat charmer regales you with tales of terrible beauty and chillingly awkward humdrum confessions.

Resident MC of TJ Duffy is Shepherd's Bush born, Hanwell raised Bobby Carroll'll be doing a rare set of stand up on a stool. A sharp suited grumpy young man trades in sharp observational and confessional routines given a knowingly self deprecating spin. Playing with light and dark subject matters he can switch from detached deadpan to high energy impressions and voice work bringing to life such varied inaminate objects such as pub quiz machines, tropical fish and tattoo artist's needles.

A consistent act on most bills he really shines in tougher rooms where his ability to chat and improvise comes to life. He has succesfully played corporates to investment bankers, strip bars, stag parties sticking to his own wry, miserable style and obviously the finest clubs in the land. Well established headliners have compared his persona to Frank Skinner, Adam Bloom and Rodney Dangerfield.

"Quick wit and observation" - Evening Standard

"Enlivens the room with his quickfire banter... moments of brilliance and originality." - Three Weeks

"A rare find... fresh and funny observations about sex and relationships... Deserves bigger audiences" - Kate Copstick, The Scotsman
