Event information
Welcome to the Carhampton Recreation Ground and Butchers Arms for our 7th festival. The Butchers landlord remains most enthusiastic about the festival, and keeps a good pint. Food is reasonably priced and of good quality and quantity. The Butchers Arms also provide the bar at the Recreation Hall on Friday, and Saturday. No bar on Sunday at the hall. The Butchers is available for Bed & Breakfast, and festival breakfasts and is open throughout the weekend. Phone 01643 821333.
All camping is at the Recreation Ground field, find directions in the website. Shower and toilet facilities are available and we will ensure that there is a 24 hour loo. Regret no hook-ups. If you are camping early booking recommended. Full directions are in the website.
We anticipate using the second (on site) hall for the concert. In 2008 we found there was not room for all, so we will use the usual hall for an overflow acoustic event where our guests will also be invited to perform. The line up for 2009 is Kevin & Lucy Burrow (of Cornish Songwriter fame), James Findlay, (a fresh new talent from Dorset), Cruel Folk (Exciting duo from East Anglia), Capella (amazing harmonies from Kent), and Anne Lister (uplifting singer/songwriter from South Wales). The hall has kitchen facilities. (Remember Di’s famous teas). The Workshops are African Singing, Folk Art, Local Tales, Bodhran, and Herbaceous Border (Morris dancing). (TBC).
The festival and camping is based in the middle of CARHAMPTON. The village has a local shop which stocks the usual needs (papers, off license etc.). Please respect the needs of the locals and keep the informal noise, however good it is, down after midnight.
Looking forward to meeting you (again). Mike & Diane
