Event information
Bomfest started in 2005 on the Barnsley main at Oaks lane in Hoyle mill showcasing some of the best local talent and inviting musicians from all over the U.K. to play the event. The festival had three great years there before moving to Locke park last year where it attracted 3500 people throughout the day and was a great success with over 2000 pounds raised for the new childrens play area in the park.
This year the festival is planned to take place at Silverwood scout camp in Silkstone on Saturday 25th July with some established names coming to support BOMfest. Senser from London are headlining the main stage with Nik Turner famous for his Hawkwind years providing the main support with Londons Back to the Planet also on the line up. The second stage will be headlined by Shane Macgowans band The Popes who are touring and promoting the release of their new album with Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley returning after a great performance as last years Headline act to perform an acoustic set. Their is also a rumour that The Stone Roses guitarist Aziz Ibriham may also be playing with his new project. Some of the regions local talent confirmed so far are Glass Youth, The Harringtons, Gaia, The X Rippers, Straight Razor Angels, Seventh son, Breakhorse, Dirty Jeans, Jon Gomm, China Shop Bull, Unsung Heros, Jo Webb and the Dirty Hands.
