Come along to the legendary Phoenix Bar (home to Phil Nichol's Old Rope, Mitch Benn's Distraction Club and No Pressure to be Funny) in the centre of London for an afternoon of amazing musical comedy action!
Now in its seventh year, the WeGotTickets MCA has grown in stature to become an annual fixture in the comedy calendar and the place to see the UK's finest up and coming musical comedians alongside some of the best established acts of the genre on the circuit. The competition has provided a launch pad to superstar acts like Frisky and Mannish (2009 Finalists), Abandoman (2010 winners) and Jay Foreman (Best Newcomer 2009 and has toured with Dave Gorman) and created a thriving independent platform to celebrate the artform that is musical comedy. Since 2009 the competition has also played host to stars of the genre such as DAVID O'DOHERTY, BO BURNHAM, RUBBERBANDITS, MITCH BENN, PIPPA EVANS, TOM BASDEN, ISY SUTTIE, MR B THE GENTLEMAN RHYMER and many more.
So the seventh MCA begins! The top 40 musical comedy acts will be selected from online entries to www.facebook.com/musicalcomedyawards and will then battle it out in the heats at the Phoenix through to the Final at the Bloomsbury Theatre on April 10th. Come along for an amazing Saturday afternoon of musical comedy entertainment and vote for your favourite six acts to progress through to the next round!
Performing in heat one are the following acts:
Hilary Fox
Katie Pritchard
Danny Hurst
James McDonnell
Jayde Adams
Ben C Winn
Gareth Cooper
Two Pregnant Men
Shape of a Sandwich
Making Faces
Headlining heat one is the winner of the 2014 WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards, DAVID ELMS:
