Stephan Mathieu

Stephan Mathieu is a self-taught composer and performer working in the fields of electroacoustics and abstract digitala. His sound is largely based on early instruments, environmental sound and obsolete media, which are recorded and transformed by means of experimental microphony, re-editing techniques and software processes involving spectral analysis and convolution; it has been compared to the landscape paintings of Caspar David Friedrich, the work of Colorfield artists Mark Rothko, Barnett Newman and Ellsworth Kelly. Mathieu has collaborated with artists including Akira Rabelais, Douglas Benford, Ekkehard Ehlers, Janek Schaefer, John Hudak and Taylor Deupree on electronic music labels worldwide. Since 1992 he performed his music live in solo shows and on festivals all over Europe, Scandinavia, North- and Southamerica and created various audio installations for galleries an!
d museums, a glass-blowing factory, a 17th century garden, Berlin Mitte, a 19th century steel plant, parks, an arrangement of 30 Peugeots, a late antique throne hall and various other places.

TSU is Robert Curgenven (AU) and Joerg-Maria Zeger (DE)

Jörg-Maria Zeger is a veteran guitarist of the Berlin scene since the 1980s, collaborating with Burkhard Beins and Ignaz Schick (as Perlonex since 1998) and Charlemagne Palestine (since 2004) and Toshimara Nakamura, Olaf Rupp, Chris Abrahams and Keith Rowe amongst others. He has performed at major international festivals across Europe, Russia, Canada and Australia.

Robert Curgenven has been based in Europe since 2008 after ten years in remote areas of Australia, creating a unique sound that draws on this powerful landscape, incorporating custom dubplates, feedback and fieldrecordings. He has performed and exhibited throughout Australia and Europe.
