A grief-stricken widow stops by a remote cabin after getting lost on the back roads of Minnesota in the middle of winter. She soon finds herself in a desperate fight for survival as she encounters a murderous couple holding a young woman hostage.
Dead of Winter is a 2025 action thriller film directed by Brian Kirk and written by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb. It stars Emma Thompson, Judy Greer, Marc Menchaca, and Laurel Marsden.
Hit by a blizzard, a grief-stricken loner (Emma Thompson) gets lost among backroads near a Minnesotan lake and stops for help at a remote cabin in the woods. Here she discovers a young woman (Laurel Marsden) kidnapped by a desperate couple (Judy Greer, Marc Menchaca) who are armed and intent on murder. Isolated and without cell service, this unlikely hero realizes she is the woman’s only hope of survival.
Dead of Winter has been described as a mix between ‘Fargo’ + ‘Taken’ and ‘An Ice Cold Senior Citizen’ thriller. You may never have imagined Emma Thompson as a character quite like this.
