Event information

False Adults are the two-headed rap-beast that just won’t die.

Back in 2005, Ian Perry started a musical project. Heavily inspired by the likes of MC Lars and mc chris, MC iPod - as he would become known - would ply his 'nerd rap' trade around the UK, releasing two albums, several EPs, and sharing stages with a wide range of artists including McDonalds themed Black Sabbath tribute act Mac Sabbath, internet megastar MC Devvo, indie rock darling Jeff Rosenstock, and Libertines frontman Pete Doherty.

Meanwhile, David Martin was playing real instruments and touring the UK in several bands such as retro indie threesome The British IBM, twee pop band Death To Slow Music, and alternative rock group Blackhorse Hotel.

Fast forward to 2017, and MC iPod - now in his late 30s and still unable to drive - has a gig in Peterborough supporting cult synthwave act LeBrock. Being the good chap that he is, David offers to drive and Ian manages to talk him into doing back-up vocals.

From this, an idea was formed. Now using the nom-de-rap Dronic, David would join Ian onstage at that year's Strawberry Fair, and together they would record and release the "I've Wondered Sometimes, Whether I Could be a Rapper" EP.

Now joined by producer/multi-instrumentalist Alex "LXE" English, the trio would christen themselves False Adults. A handful of gigs - and a few single releases - would happen over the rest of 2017 and 2018 before the band would abruptly disband.

Seven years later and the False Adults itch would strike the original tandem of Ian "MC iPod" Perry and David "Dronic" Martin; and with comeback gigs in North Norfolk and South London, False Adults are truly back.

2026 sees the duo return to Cambridge with new gigs, new songs, and new collaborations.

Support on the night comes from East Anglian horrorcore act JAY-D and electronic outfit IBURNPOLICE.
