We Can Be Heroes is a daytime disco for grown-up geeks and kid sidekicks. It's for fans of comic books, superheroes, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons and every aspect of geek culture, past and present. It's gonna be awesome!
The music will be a mix of blockbuster soundtracks and bubblegum pop, upbeat indie and big, silly rock: think John Hughes meets John Williams via John Waters. Expect to hear Pixies, Pat Benatar, the Ramones, Weird Al, Weezer, Kiss, the B-52s, Cyndi Lauper, They Might Be Giants, Journey, Violent Femmes, Rush, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Gary Numan, Kate Bush, Kenny Loggins, and more. All played at a child-friendly volume that's still perfect for dancing.
M for Mexico (www.facebook.com/MforMexico) will be selling authentic Mexican street food cooked freshly, combining authentic Mexican ingredients with local produce. Tegan the Vegan will offer a selection of sweet and savoury treats, the perfect healthy energy snacks for young heroes. There will be professional illustrators on hand to provide hints and tips, and sell a sketch or two, including Janet Cheeseman (http://www.plumpuddingillustration.com/work/?page=1&artist=198&name&cat=1&id=160). A dressing up box will be provided. And, of course, face painting, with a sci-fi and superhero slant.
To book your slot at one of the two cartoon workshops by Janet Cheeseman (tickets are limited!), please click one of these two links:

Dressing up really creates the atmosphere. Whilst we won't have a strict costume policy, we want you - grown-ups and kids - to come dressed up as your favourite characters from comics, films, sci-fi or fantasy. Hero or villain? The choice is yours.
There will be no admission to adults unless they're part of a group that includes children. So friends, grandparents, mentors, stoic and long-suffering manservants, etc. are all welcome. We are operating an inclusive event, and we want it to be both safe and fun for everyone who comes along.
Walthamstow Trades Hall is located just off of Hoe Street, a 5-minute walk from Walthamstow Central and directly opposite Yard Sale Pizza. It has a dance floor, plenty of seating, and a bar with 1990s prices!
