LITURGY
Built around their appearance at Dutch metal-and-the-rest festival Roadburn, this is the Cardiff date of the debut UK tour for LITURGY - a band from Brooklyn who play what they call "pure transcendental black metal". While this offers a signpost to the fact that the band - led by a dude called Hunter Hunt-Hendrix - aren't afraid to throw some *heavy concepts* about, they do a fine job of justifying it with their releases to date (an EP, an album on 20 BUCK SPIN and an upcoming one on the blates non-metal label THRILL JOCKEY). Monstrous blasts, anguished screams and thick walls of droning, buzzing riff frenzy - check this the hell out if you like ULVER, KRALLICE, BURZUM, WEAKLING or WOE, cos most of that lot probably ain't passing through Cardiff soon.

GHAST
Swansea trio GHAST have been peddling their soot-covered lo-fi BM since 2004 (starting life called Souldust), but apparently this is their first ever Cardiff show! I know right. They have an album out on the TODESTRIEB label, 'May The Curse Bind', which sounds *kinda* like DARKTHRONE and VON and UNEARTHLY TRANCE, but not that much like any of them. They've also just released 'Terrible Cemetery', an EP with a 20-minute title track. Large.

ATOMÇK
First show in the capital for South Walian techie grindcore trio ATOMÇK in a while, and hopefully they should have their first vinyl release (a split 7" with US grind band PAUCITIES) good to go by this point. Having already stacked up a... stack of CDR releases, you may have previously seen them rock the digigrind style with a drum machine, but they have a human man, name of Marzena, doing that job now.

ORDER OF TEPES
Old skool black metallers also making their Cardiff debut, ORDER OF TEPES are yet another trio. They hail from Newport and have existed since October 2009. They have a demo EP, 'Kazikli Voyvoda', available now (you can hear it all on their Myspace as well), on which they demonstrate their ability to kick out death metal-tinged rampages, atmospheric bits a la EMPEROR and stright-up blackened negativity. Oh and they do a MISFITS cover!
