Two-time Grammy-nominated Kim Richey is a storyteller; a weaver of emotions and a tugger of heartstrings. Tender, poetic and aching with life's truths, Kim's songs transport you to her world, where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul.
The 15-year musical journey that has led Kim to her latest album, "Wreck Your Wheels" has been a dream run. Aside from her two Grammy nods, she has released five critically acclaimed albums; been listed in the Top 10 Albums of 1999 in US Time Magazine for her album "Glimmer", and been given 4 stars in Rolling Stone and named Alt-Country Album Of The Year in People Magazine for her album "Rise". She has written two Number 1s and four Top 10 hits in the USA and singles in the Top 50. She has had her songs recorded by the likes of Trisha Yearwood and James Morrison among others; sung on albums by Ryan Adams, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter and even appeared on a William Shatner record produced by Ben Folds.
Kim's sixth album, "Wreck Your Wheels" is a return to her more Americana roots. Heading back to Nashville to record with her touring band, this album was all about getting an organic, real sound: no auto-tune, no studio tricks - just five musicians in a room, playing together. Lyrically driven and beautifully produced, "Wreck Your Wheels" is a record that gets into your head and heart and stays there. So does it matter whether it's Americana, Alt-country or Pop? We say, forget the labels. Just listen to the music. Decide for yourself.
With her highly acclaimed album, ‘Mudshow’ (“A Small Miracle.” Rolling Stone) Krista Detor was established as a gifted player on the world stage. Together with partner and producer, David Weber, she’s since released the follow-up album, ‘Cover Their Eyes’ (“One of the best albums of the year.” Revolver) continuing to push the edges of genre while remaining close throughout to the lyrical thread that defines her work.
She’s reached #1 on the Euro-Americana chart and her music’s been featured at the Cannes Film Festival, on NPR, PBS, the BBC, as well as countless U.S. and European National, Regional & Local radio shows. She’s appeared on both U.S. and European television and collaborated on the CD and Stage show Wilderness Plots, which has received rave reviews and will continue to tour throughout the U.S. well into the future.
Recently, she was honoured to be chosen to be a part of the Darwin Songhouse, with seven other songwriters in Shrewsbury England, writing for seven days songs to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin in his hometown. The event, subsequent concert and live CD release were covered extensively by the BBC.
In March 2010 Krista released ‘Chocolate Paper Suites’ – Krista’s 4th solo album – a series of 3-song Suites each connected by theme and/or imagery, and inspired by the works of Lorca, Dylan Thomas & Darwin, among other thinkers, artists and experiences.
