At the invitation of Friends of Bede's World, as part of a series of events titled "Bede the Musician", the Durham Singers present an a capella recital around the theme 'The Lord's Song' and including settings by Will Todd and Richard Lloyd of words by Bede. The first half of the concert showcases 8-part masterpieces from the Renaissance, including two settings by Byrd and de Monte taken from Psalm 137 - By the Rivers of Babylon. In a new direction for the choir, the second half of the programme explores some wonderful Negro Spiritual and gospel arrangements.
