The Silk Road Trio
Improvisations on three ragas
The Silk Road Trio was formed in 2007 in celebration of the 800th anniversary of Jalal-ud-Din Rumi, a Persian sage and mystic. Comprising of three wolrd-renowned musicians: Clem Alford, Stéphane René and Sirishkumar, they combine sitar, oud and tabla in a sound which reflects the musical heritage of their name. Their music largely improvised, building up in ecstatic crescendos and intricate rhythmic patterns, unique to each of their performances.
