The Gallery Singers are an exciting new ensemble bringing their fresh and enthusiastic approach to repertoire both old and new. Old and new forms the backbone of their programme. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater depicts Mary suffering at the foot of the cross. Popular since its first performance, it became the most frequently printed musical work of the 18th century. Alongside this they introduce audiences to some lesser well-known European works of the 20th century from the Italian Giacomo Puccini, the Estonian Arvo Pärt and the late Polish composer, Henryk Górecki.
