Kiev’s all-male Boyan Ensemble bring you awe-inspiring performances of Russian Orthodox Church sacred music, and thrilling Ukrainian traditional songs performed in traditional costume.
The Boyan Ensemble of Kiev’s awe–inspiring performances have gained the Ensemble an international reputation and UK concert tours are an eagerly awaited annual event. In the first part of the programme, sacred chants reflect the gold-encrusted grandeur of the Orthodox Liturgy and provide a truly moving experience, while a striking change of mood in the second part transports the audience into the exciting folk culture of Ukraine. Here the choir performs a kaleidoscope of thrilling songs in traditional embroidered shirts with some of the songs accompanied on the Bandura, Hurdy-Gurdy and Bayan.
