Event information

Adrian's Wall Sound System are incredibly pleased to announce that the Mighty Sound of Jah Lightning and Thunder Aba Shanti-I are coming to Wycombe to spread the message of roots music for a night called Forward Ever.

The dance is to be held at The Wycombe Academy of Music & Arts located at 45 Bridge St, High Wycombe, Bucks HP11 2EL. This is directly opposite the bus station and there is parking very near the venue. The session will run from 9pm until 4am on Saturday 30 July and tickets are just £5 advance and £7 on the door.

Both sounds will be playing on their own sound systems with each sound bringing a 4 scoop stack to bring forward the power of roots music as it is meant to be heard, clean and heavy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aba Shanti-I started out in the sound system business as mic man for the legendary Jah Tubbys. Over 20 years ago he decided to build his own sound and since that moment he has actively pushed Roots music forward. Aba has traveled the world spreading the message of Rastafari through his music and chanting as well as promoting and recording many records.

Aba Shanti-I area at the Notting Hill Carnival attracts more than 10,000 people each year and has become a annual pilgrimage for connoisseurs of Roots and Dub from all over the world. It was at carnival that we first heard Aba and were simply blown away by the positive message and sheer brilliance of the music.

Aba also runs arguably the most important dance in the country, University of Dub, which showcases the best singers and sound systems from across the world each and every month. With sounds regularly bringing their systems and traveling from the furthest reaches of Europe to attend this dance truly is at the forefront of the modern roots scene.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adrian's Wall Sound System was used in its first inclination in 2008 for a dance with Chazbo & Culture Freeman of the Bush Chemists. Since that eventful first dance we continued playing Roots Reggae DJ sets taking many mismatched collections of speakers to many other nights until in 2009 we wheeled out our new system for the first time for a Carnival warm up dance. Since then we set up a monthly session at The Hobgoblin which continues to grow having welcomed some of the best selectors in roots music to play on our set.

These include Legendary Nick Manasseh, the Bush Chemists, Instrument of Jah, Unity Hifi, Operation sound system, Dub Smugglers and Ras Terry Gad. These session have gained a solid following and are now guaranteed roadblocks with people regularly travelling from as far away as Birmingham and Manchester to enjoy the dances.

We have also had the good fortune to get to play in unity alongside the mighty Channel One Sound System last year. A recording of which you can listen to at http://www.talawa.fr/media/channel-one-meet-adrians-wall-271110-for-y4e39

We have travelled up and down the country playing at all sorts of events and radio shows, reaching as far as Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as traveling to Australia and America linking with people over there to run some sessions.

With upcoming shows alongside the likes of Vibration Lab and The Dubateers as well as providing the sound system for one of the stages at the One Love Festival we are continuing to go from strength to strength and hope to continue spreading the message of roots music for many years to come.
