Event information

Piney Gir was born in a Thunderstorm in the middle of May in Kansas City, Kansas. It was tornado season, the sky was green and angry; in a bath of blood out she popped.

Piney grew up in isolation in the American Midwest in a strict Christian family. The church gave Piney her musical training, as Pentecostal charismatic Christians intersperse speaking in tongues, dancing and fainting with a whole lot of singing!

Everything changed when Piney was suddenly sent to American junior high and was exposed to music, lots of music… new music with lyrics that Piney would listen to, convinced that in doing so she was sealing her fate in hell. It was culture shock, and she loved it.

After releasing her first solo album, The Piney Gir Country Roadshow came to pass when Piney supported an alt-country band at a working men’s club. She got some friends together to play her songs in a country style, and like a love child, The Piney Gir Country Roadshow was born.

The Obscuritones are London Greaserbilly for Rock-a-Hulagans who play the best rockabilly rarities from the fifties , surfin, spy and garage rock from the sixties and wild originals from the all hail hereafter.

Oli Ralfe of Ralfe Band has built a name for himself around his band's infectious folk influenced songs, vivid surreal lyrics and classical and gypsy inspired instrumentals. Ralfe Band have toured across Europe and performed at festivals as far flung as Istanbul and Ireland and Italy. In 2009 they completed the soundtrack to ‘Bunny and The Bull’, a feature film directed by Paul King and produced by Warp Films.
