Da Doo Ron Ron DJs Chris 'Da Doo' King and Jon 'Born Bad' Slade are chuffed-to-bits to welcome the return of superstar guest DJ the lovely Rhoda Dakar of Special AKA, (and the Specials!), 2-TONE and Bodysnatchers fame, to the Da Doo decks. Rhoda famously featured on the More Specials album track 'I Can't Stand It', a dazzling duet with Terry Hall. She was also a member of The Specials for their legendary Top of the Pops studio appearance of number 1 hit 'Ghost Town'. After the demise of the 'original' Specials line-up Jerry Dammers invited Rhoda to join the revamped Special AKA, the line-up who recorded the legendary 'Nelson Mandela'. More recently, Rhoda has released a fantastic solo LP 'Cleaning In Another Womans Kitchen', performed live with Terry Hall and Lynval Golding (of The Specials) as well as those 'nutty boys' Madness.

In keeping with the Da Doo femmecentric remit, Rhoda will spin a special one-off exclusive set embracing sisterly soul, funk and skanking ska (including lashings of Trojan and Studio One platters!). Rhoda has spun at Da Doo on three previous occasions and each and every time has blown the 'bloody doors off!". DO NOT MISS!

Established way back in October 1998, Da Doo Ron Ron is a fabalicious mix of femme pop, sisterly soul 'n' funk, girlgroup dramarama & chicks with licks; spanning the 1950s, Swingin' 60s and early-to-mid 70s.

It's WILD women & song!

Expect 50s diva dolls, 60s Girly Sounds-A-Go-Go, Hip shakin' Mamas, Smitten kittens, Jukejoint jezebels, Real gone girls gone rockin', Rhythm 'n' blues babes, Popcorn popstrels, Motown minxes, Spector's Princesses, Swingin' Mademoiselles, Slick chicks, Girls with guitars, Bold soul sisters, Pretty kitties from the gritty city, Rave up garage gals & Northern nightingales.

You will NEVER EVER hear a MALE LEAD vocal at DDRR!

Da Doo Ron Ron - As seen on BBC1 TV & Channel 4 TV, as heard on BBC6 Radio and BBC Radio 4, as featured in the NME, Guardian, Time Out, The Times, The Pittsburgh (USA) City Paper & Grazia

"At least two thirds of the crowd at DDRR are girls who come to dance, so the atmosphere's always really special!" Time Out
