Leap Night!
It only happens once every four years and for 2012 we bring you two rather mind-boggling live instrumental bands.
THE WINCHESTER CLUB
"...the last whisperings between Mogwai’s frail mother and Godspeed You Black Emperor’s great-grandfather" - DAZED AND CONFUSED
Performing both quiet/beautiful and loud/noir music since 2000, The Winchester Club only really got into gear eight years later due to members commitments to other bands. After Exile On Mainstream released their debut album "Britannia Triumphant" in 2008, The Winchester Club toured mainly in Europe and in 2011 they released the follow-up “Negative Liberty” which got lots of fine reviews here in the UK.
Although mostly based in London, you won’t find The Winchester Club playing live very much, and we’re delighted they’re playing Leap Day 2012. Who knows, they might come back in another four years.
“Negative Liberty is a beautifully measured and masterfully arranged work… a truly beautiful journey in sound.” 8/10 – WHISPERIN’ AND A HOLLERIN’

CLORINDE
Avant-folk multi-instrumentalist three piece Clorinde make extensive use of acoustic and electric instruments (banjos, guitars , vibraphones, African kalimbas, zithers, clarinet, bass, electric organ, various drums and percussions) extrapolated from their context and processed through electronic devices and amplification, bringing an enchanting and exciting flavour of rhythmic psychedelic post-folk.
