"It's a Wonderful Vintage Love Boat Ball"

Calling all you romantic vintage loving sailors and sailorettes out there. The “It’s a Wonderful…” Vintage Special Events team are back by very popular demand with their first event of 2012 called “It’s a Wonderful Vintage Love Boat Ball”.

Taking place on Friday 17 February 2012 from 8pm – 2am aboard a 300 person moored “Love boat” on the banks of the River Thames, this is a truly quirky Valentines event in the most wondrous riverside location. With a beautifully sumptuous 1920s interior, two wooden polished dance floors, a stage area, two bars, an outside heated deck for smokers, lovers and their old sea dogs…;) the setting makes for the most quirky of Valentines swing and dress up nights out.

A strictly tickets in advance only occasion, this is for all vintage style lovers and adorers of jazz and late night frolics. You can bring your lover, or you can come find him or her at the event! This ball is open to everyone (swing dancers and none swing dancers alike)… All we insist upon is a strict love of dressing up glamorously in your best vintage attire, and an openness to embracing the quirks and randomness of the nights events, as there will be plenty of those!

With a top London live jazz ensemble lined up plus the cream of London’s swing dance DJs, 2012 love tarot and psychic readings, a roving magician, a vintage photo booth and even a red carpet gang plank…! Plus much, much more… including a ‘Swing Dance Speed Dating’ section of the evening, a romantic burlesque performance, a ‘Make a Wish Chinese Love-Lantern’ area and maybe a ‘Cheeky Sailors Shanty Dance-Off’ competition thrown in for good measure, this event is another one off.

There is a strict 300 person limit on tickets and they must be purchased online in advance only.
The London vintage scene will not have seen an event quite like this before, so be sure to be part of something unique by coming along for this most romantic of nautical ‘Love boat’ rides…!

TRAVEL:
Tube
From Vauxhall tube station take exit 2 which brings you in to the bus garage, go to stop E and take the 344 or 156 to the Cringle Street stop.

Rail
From outside Battersea Park railway station, take any bus going towards Vauxhall and get out at the Cringle Street stop.

On foot
Turn off Nine Elms Lane into Cringle Street and take the next right (Kirtling Street) and follow the “Battersea Barge” signs to the river. Turn right and follow the footpath past lots of beautiful houseboats!

Parking
There is plenty of unrestricted parking for cars and bikes in Cringle Street and Kirling Street.

Taxi
We recommend leaving by taxi after 12am. The venue has an arrangement with a local taxi company for cheap rates around the city and also has a list of other reasonably priced taxi firms. The cabs should be told to pick up customers on Cringle Street or Kirling Street. Ask at the venue for numbers.
