"It really is an amalgamation of all things trippy and offbeat. I Dance Alone is one out there track. I've listened to it a dozen times now and each time I find another little sonic nugget tucked between the crunching beats. It's like The Adamski Kid made music out of a piece of abstract art." We Are Hunted
The Adamski Kid is the musical incarnation of East London Songwriter/Producer Adam Karayiannis. A winner of Sideline Magazines 'Face The Beat' Competition within a week of posting his debut track 'I Dance Alone' online, he cites some of his musical influences as PJ Harvey, Crystal Castles, Bloc Party and Joni Mitchell.
From the "distorted and almost terrifying" 'Ever Drive A Hearse Harold?' inspired by cult classic Harold and Maude, to the final-straw frustrations of 'Mowgli', The Adamski Kid is "aggressive, playful, manic and desperately reaching for pleasure." (Larry Flick, Sirius XM/Billboard Magazine)
"My family are Greek Cypriot refugees who used to ride donkeys to work the fields and grew fruit in the village.I ride a tube to work everyday to sell overpriced shoes to the East London Fashionistas. I suppose some of my lyrics are paradoxical...My love of the city verses feelings of being completely enslaved by it. That pull is reflected in the sound...a battle between the electronic and the organic."
Currently working on his debut album and rehearsing with his band, The Adamski Kid plans to start gigging early 2012.
Radio support so far comes from Tom Robinson @ BBC Introducing (playing both i Dance Alone and Mowgli in the space of a month) and New York radio royalty/former Billboard Magazine Editor Larry Flick & Kane FM.
