Oxfordshire Music Scene live events / Back & To The Left presents
A quadruple header of finest Oxford acts...
CAT MATADOR
"curiously arresting... weave together mightily fine, intricate guitar-work draped in a Joy-Divisionesque kind of darkness with impressively solid drumming from chops-man Christopher Roe-French.
This is all underpinned by violinist Sian Williams' strings, which adds an graceful, almost majestic air to proceeding, providing a optimistic ray of light to the darkness which otherwise envelops. It seems like it really shouldn't work but makes it all the more pleasurable that it does, the sum being truly greater than the parts" - The Fly

THE GULLIVERS
Appearing in 2009 and following an appearance as guests on Tom Robinson’s show on 6music and a performance at Truck 2010, Oxford’s The Gullivers slowly crept into a state of hiatus. Now, almost 12 months since their last live performance, they return with new set of dream-like, lo-fi indie pop.

GRACEFUL SLICKS
"Graceful Slicks' astonishingly authentic adherence to the sound and style of those psych-rock pioneers lifts them out of the mire and you can almost feel the warmth of a thousand oil wheel projections swirling over your mind's eye. Man."
Nightshift Music Magazine - nightshift.oxfordmusic.net/2011/jun.pdf
There are good things afoot for Oxford’s psychedelic, shoegazing rockers The Graceful Slicks – they’re just about to get a lot better known in a couple of big places.
An American label, the Virginia-based Custom Made Music, is including ‘Bul Bul Tarang’ on their Fall Sampler, a free CD of which 2,000 copies will be distributed across America. It’ll go to a lot of radio stations and reviewers too, which will hopefully bring some attention to the band!
Over in China, the country’s biggest music magazine SoRock! is interviewing the Graceful Slicks for their next edition, and including ‘Bul Bul Tarang’ on their cover-mounted CD. [from Music In Oxford]
