Ahead of the 5th IABR's April opening in Rotterdam, Joachim Declerck and Dirk Sijmons explore the Biennale's working methods as both a cultural operator and a platform for research and development, with a focus on its current work in Istanbul. Using the Biennale format to collaborate with cities around the world to effect lasting urban development, the 5th IABR calls on all disciplines and stakeholders to actively reconsider the future of cities by joining together in new ways, with the pressing message: our future is in the future of our cities.
