North&Global are proud to be showing, Take Three GIrls, a film by Paul Kelly.
Paul Kelly's fascinating film Take Three Girls tells the story of Dolly Mixture, a precursor to indie pop mixing the pure pop of 60s girls groups with a bit of glam, mod and punk.
Perhaps best known as the backing group on Captain Sensible's No1 hit 'Happy Talk', Dolly Mixture toured with The Undertones, played John Peel’s fortieth birthday party, gave U2 a support-act leg-up and influenced the whole Riot Grrrl movement.. Paul Kelly's fascinating film traces the band's story from their schooldays in Cambridge through the post punk era of the late seventies to their final performance in 1983. With a wealth of rare archive material and interviews with Debsey, Rachel, Hester and Captain Sensible this little gem of a film is both amusing and poignant.
