“Caves. Natural habitats for reclusive behaviour. Rare species. Secret projects. Night visionaries.”

Cave Birds and their series of noir-pop songs that have surreptitiously leaked out of Leeds over the past few months under that name, are a reminder of the great anti-social artisans of songwriting; Syd Barrett, Talk Talk, Kate Bush… Not just the songs, but every detail of the production, like Brian Wilson with the all the sunshine and pastoralism sucked out and a vile of danger injected. Cave Birds is the songwriting vehicle for T.E.Brookes.

Their debut ‘Some Lightning Thrill’ is a tale of devastating love. Is it a far reaching call-to-arms or a deep echoing cry for help? Like all of the bands work it is bursting with pain and passion, not something you can stash under the floorboards. Sometimes secrets need to be shared.

Following on from this sees the release of ‘In Love From Afar’ on newly formed Two Sisters label on June 18th. In Love From Afar demonstrates once again the depth of T.E. Brookes songwriting. Another tale of devastating love or one of contentment?
