YOUNG BLOOD
Exceptionally tight, and loads of chemistry boiling between guitarist Dave, Bass player Ady and drummer Jordan, it was as if they had been playing together for years. Most impressive of all is that despite their sound feeling somewhat familiar, chatting amongst the crowd, nobody could put their finger on who they were anything like? Even Ben himself couldnt describe their sound or where their influences were drawn from. They even manage themselves and are concentrating purely on just getting new gigs to play for the love of playing out and doing their thing. Their typically indie rock image wouldnt be out of place on the big stages at festivals and stadium tours or, like it was this night, tiny little intimate gigs to passionate music lovers. They are born entertainers; Daves cute pigeon toe stance, Jordan thrashing out like a madman in demolition mode and quirky head gestures from Ady all compliment the grand presence of Ben who TVS has seen perform in various other guises. Staying true to his Everyone get involved performance mantra, Ben starts the sing along with a song both young and old know: Spandau Ballets Gold. As cheesy as it seems, this magic simply lifted the room with every hand in the air and massive smiles lighting up the dimly lit cellar of The Vic. The atmosphere was set for a lovely song, entitled Sunday Morning, which was exactly that. A sound for Sunday morning, mellow with a bit of a 90s Britpop throw back. And sticking with this vibe, the next song Young Blood, began with an incredible guitar rumble, almost Stereophonics sounding (but better), perfect for driving with your windows down through country roads on sunny days and when Ben starts to sing, shoulders were mounted and the excited people began to bounce as they built up to the catchy chorus of I Wont Die, No I Wont Die Young. True to any festival style mass gathering, this was a perfect track to get everyone singing to. And that they did. Led by Bens encouragement:
