A legendary guitarist and singer of the late 1960s American folk boom, Roy learned guitar from a master of blues, the Rev Gary Davis - and travelled and toured alongside with him. Roy is a maestro of fingerpicking country blues guitar, and honed his craft in the buzz of 60s New York, rubbing shoulders with Bob Dylan, Dave Van Ronk, Arlo Guthrie and Spider John Koerner.
Roy recorded extensively for the Kicking Mule and Blue Goose labels in the 60s. In 1969, he toured England with Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup and Homesick James.
His 1971 album "Travelling Man" is an acknowledged one-man-and-his-guitar classic: it's one acoustic blues album that everyone should hear.
This is the only UK date Roy Book Binder is playing: we are honoured to be hosting him in the intimate environment of the Slaughtered Lamb.
