Simona Smirnova

Simona Smirnova is a public figure in Lithuanian cultural life. She is a professional jazz singer, a non-formal education teacher, a journalist, an artist, a model, a writer and huge interesting and special person. At present she lives in London and works as a Lithuanian language and music teacher.

Simona embraces a wide range of styles and genres in her creative life. She performs jazz standards, her own arrangements, contemporary academical music, her own compositions. In her she tries to find a connection between Eastern modes, aesthetics and philosophy and specific Lithuanian sound.

Also Simona performs in rock operas and keeps looking for the new forms of "voice theater". Simona is involved in variety of projects from traditional jazz to avant-garde projects of art synthesis where free jazz, body art and other forms of expression are blended. The most recent project by Simona is "Baroque Contempo" in which Baroque music is mixed with contemporary jazz.

Aside from musical activities, Simona writes articles on culture topics, reviews, scripts, drama pieces, opera librettos.

On 26th of August Simona performing with lithuanian drummer Zhivile Kazlauskaite and polish piano player Tomasz Bura. Jazz trio will play Simonas own compositions and arrangements of the jazz standards.
