A newlywed couple stop by an ancient castle to visit the bride's two cousins before embarking on their honeymoon. They arrive to terrible news! The two men are two-days-dead! The next day, the cousins mysteriously show up, dismissing their deaths as a village rumour. All is not well...

Kicking off the September film-cycle 'Tide of Non-Human Life' at Sugarhouse Studios, we present The Shiver of the Vampires (Le frisson des vampires), a magical and eccentric film by Jean Rollin. Driven by a complete disregard for rational plotting, this detached and dreamlike vampire fantasy combines piercing black humour, red gels, outrageous aquamarine backlights, pigmented fogs and a generally crazed chromatism in ninety-five minutes of poetical, erotic, and visually inventive exuberance and delight! All underscored by an ecstatic prog-rock soundtrack.
