KIT DOWNES QUINTET

Both dark and detailed, colourful and chaotic, the Quintet is a new project from pianist and composer Kit Downes, with Calum Gourlay (bass), James Maddren (drums), Lucy Railton (cello) and James Allsopp (bass clarinet).
Downes and Allsopp are also featured in Barbacana (a jazz shuttle project) – a new Anglo-French quartet, with “a constantly shifting dynamic spectrum, ranging from full-volume, rowdy sax blasts and singeing electric guitar to near-silence” (London Jazz).
