Hallowe'en is the time when humans allow themselves to celebrate the spooky. To mark this we have drawn together a few of their number who each have a quirky or informative take on the subject. What makes us frightened? Why do some of us delight in being scared? And what connects our personal fears to the wider world?
Speakers include writer Tim Clare, who recalls a subtle and funny tale of childhood anxiety and Joanna Bourke, author of Fear – A Cultural History, cultural historian and Birkbeck lecturer, who will put our fears in context. More special guests will be announced soon.
Before, during and after this Panel of Peril, we invite you to stock up on supplies for this most monstrous time of year. Shop for the large and small monsters in your life and hear more about our exciting new lines for Christmas before you run screaming into the night…
Tickets are £5, or free to regular Ministry of Stories volunteers and 159 Club members.
