Liverpool-born Dave Ellis released a solo album in 1973 (considered by some to be a classic guitar record of the 70s) which gave him national exposure on the Old Grey Whistle Test and 'In Concert'.
Dave became a regular at various London haunts such as the Marquee, Roundhouse and Lyceum and even opened for Rod Stewart at Reading Festival.
By 1979 Dave had formed electric band ‘The Reactors’ with Boo Howard playing bass and handling most of the vocals.
The band were briefly managed by Jackson 5’s Jermaine Jackson and recorded by a succession of respected producers - but without achieving a commercial release. For almost two decades the band evolved, finally becoming a duo and under the name 'Brave Lucy' producing their only electric album ‘Snaps’ in 1996.
Dave and Boo’s present acoustic partnership began in 1998 with Dave’s intricate guitar work and Boo’s mellow vocal combining to create something entirely new and all their own to present at folk and acoustic venues. The mix is eclectic (folk, jazz, blues, bluegrass) but the songs remain the focus, imaginatively and stylishly arranged, played and sung by two seasoned musicians.
Dave and Boo’s acoustic debut ‘Maybe I Might Fall’ came out in 1999 and four more albums have followed since, each with a classy polished sound - testament to the pair’s familiarity with the recording process and of their ability to write and perform at a level every bit the equal of their major label peers. Their live act has now been honed to perfection in the folk and acoustic venues where they have developed a large and faithful following all over the South of England.
