We are delighted to be hosting this gig for The Self Help Group to celebrate the launch of their debut album; Not Waving But Drowning. The album will go on general release on monday 11th Feb on The Union Music Store label.
The Self Help Group formed in Brighton in 2009. Their music is a harmony drenched blend of folk and americana imbued with the spirit of the Laurel Canyon. "Not Waving But Drowning" is their first album. It is full of emotion, but, there are no love songs on the album. Instead each song is inspired by unusual news stories they have found.
Recurring themes of death and tragedy are delivered with a surprising warmth, beauty and humour through the voices of songwriter Mark and sisters Clara and Sarah.
“the incredible harmonies they lay gently over the instruments find their way straight to your insides where they create a welcome warm glow!” BRIGHTON CALLING
"…….sad songs, happy songs and gorgeous folky 3 way harmonies, a Brighton collective worth looking out for." MUSEE IMAGINAIRE
