WEBER Der Freischütz Overture
HUMMEL Trumpet Concerto
SIBELIUS Symphony No. 2

Trinity Orchestra is delighted to welcome Philip Cobb, one of the world's top trumpeters, to perform Hummel's dazzlingly virtuosic and lyrical Trumpet Concerto.

Philip Cobb's reputation as one of the finest trumpet players of his generation was confirmed in 2009 when he was appointed Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra at the age of only 21. Last year he was watched by millions around the world as a star soloist at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony, in which he performed Handel's "Eternal Source of Light Divine' with soprano Elin Manahan Thomas (watch the performance on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO-u-WNz-FY).

Cobb is one of few musicians able to master the challenging technical demands of Hummel's famous Trumpet Concerto, so to hear him perform it in the intimate setting and excellent acoustics of Harrow's Trinity Church will be a rare treat indeed.

Harrow's premier orchestra will also present two thrilling orchestral works, beginning the concert with the overture to Weber's influential Romantic opera Der Freischütz, and closing it with Sibelius' most popular Symphony. With its majestic melodies and triumphant conclusion, this masterwork passionately depicts the landscape of the composer's beloved homeland, Finland.

Join us for a pre-concert talk by conductor and soloist at 7pm through which you can learn more about the music.
